Groundwork
Melanie began recording for an unreleased EP shortly later beingness eliminated from The Voice. Story
This album tells the story of Cry Baby, a fictionalised version of Melanie and a representation of her unfortunate childhood and her vulnerable and messed-up side. Melanie claims that many of the things that accept happened to Cry Babe are similar to the things that accept happened in her ain life,[3] mixed in with fantasy elements. Each song on the tracklist is titled something childhood related, while the actual message existence crossed to the listener carries more adult-like themes and problems.

Early Concepts
In February 2014, Melanie had dissimilar plans for the anthology. 1 of its earliest versions was not story-driven; Melanie considered having songs believed to be written for different artists originally such as "Bittersweet Tragedy" and "Mistakes" which were both originally recorded in June 2013.[9] [ten] [xi] [12] Melanie as well decided to rework 2013 EP tracks such as "A Million Men", "Birthing Addicts" and "Honey Porcupines", but information technology'due south unknown if she ever got around to really remaking them.
